Wii U emulator Cemu runs Super Mario 3D World at 60fps in 2016

Whenever a new games console appears on the market it’s inevitable that eventually an emulator will appear for it. And with the move to x86 architectures for the latest hardware, that’s certainly set to continue. However, the latest console to get a serious emulator is Nintendo’s Wii U.
The emulator is called Cemu and is still in the very early stages of development. It requires a 64-bit Windows operating system (Windows 7 or higher) and a decent Nvidia or AMD GPU in order to run. Even so, it’s still buggy. Development continues, though, due in no small part to a Patreon that sees donations totaling $442 a month at time of writing.
Cemu looks very promising, and proof of that comes in the form of a new videoshowing Super Mario 3D World apparently running at full speed through Cemu, meaning at 60fps.
Patreon donators can download the latest build of Cemu (v1.4.0), which you see running Super Mario 3D World above, today. Everyone else will have to wait until next week.
Here’s Cemu v1.3.3 running Mario Kart 8 as further evidence (sound issues aside) of how much potential this emulator has:
As you can see, there’s clearly been a huge performance improvement between v1.3.3 and v1.4.0. I’m sure that is set to continue and it probably won’t be long before we start seeing videos of Twilight Princess being played through Cemu.
